Aug 7, Day 43

Salida, CO - Layover day

Every day, we are cycling we always get up wishing we could sleep another hour or two more. So why is it, when we have a day off, we wake up very close to the time we usually get up and can’t sleep in?

By 8am, we are in the Salida café, next door to the bike shop having breakfast and writing our blog. The café even has a connecting door to the bike shop.

Coming out, we meet Harry again (now cycling with Larry).

He has caught up with us again, having ridden over 85 miles yesterday to get here.

The town is getting ready for the classic car show, closing off the main street. We spend the morning doing laundry and exploring the town. Great lunch at the First Street café with the best bread pudding Numbstuff has ever had. Yum! The dog is waiting for its family just inside the window.

Our night winds down early but not before we get our liquid carbo’s in! Looking forward to our 26 mile climb in the morning…
