July 1, Day 6

Despite the heat the night before, the day starts chilly (low forties) and we are all huddled in gloves & hats around the stove for warmth. Deb made us oatmeal to give us a good start and even manages a smile when Numb Stuff suggests we could use it to mend tires with. That's gratitude to your support team! Jiggleless is back off the bench and on the bike as of this morning and sets a cracking pace up the first hill (which turns out to be longer than suggested by the Adventure Cycling map profile). At this point, NumbStuff works out that pressing a button on his GPS will give a more accurate elevation profile of what's a coming up, although, sometimes maybe it is better not to know?

The scenery is glorious, where we are is between some major wilderness areas. It doesn't feel too remote however, as we see at least half a dozen vehicles a day. We hit our first tiny bit of single track today just after lunch - ouch, it is much tougher and slower going!

Legs are starting to feel the fatigue of 6 days of consecutive riding. Dirtbaby has no rear suspension on her bike, just a soft butt which has taken a bit of a pounding!
